WJER Partnering with SWARM for Earth Day Collection Event

WJER Radio and SWARM (Sustainable Wildlife Area Restoration Movement) are teaming up to help you celebrate Earth Day by providing a simple, easy, and impactful way to recycle those difficult items! On Saturday, April 13th from 11:00am to 2:00pm, you can drive through the WJER parking lot and drop off those hard-to-recycle items that can’t be tossed into your curbside recycling bins.

We’ll collect and recycle
-Aluminum cans (this collection will serve as a fundraiser for SWARM)
-Electronics/appliances (will be recycled via eCycle Solutions of Ohio LLC)
-Single-use and rechargeable batteries (will be recycled the Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Recycling District)
-Crayons (will support New Dawn Retirement Home's "Color a New Dawn" initiative)

Here’s how it works
1. Drive into the WJER Radio parking lot on April 13th
2. Pull up to a volunteer
3. Inform them of your recyclable contents (aluminum cans, electronics, batteries, etc.)
4. Drive up to the location indicated by the volunteer
5. Allow volunteers to unload your vehicle
6. Pat yourself on the back for participating in Earth Day in a meaningful way!

Start collecting NOW and bring those recyclable items to WJER on April 13th
to participate in Earth Day in a meaningful way this year! For details, visit our event page on Facebook.

"Plant Talk Live" Draws a Crowd at New Towne Mall

For the 14th year in a row, Fred Hower of "Plant Talk" visited Tuscarawas County to do his weekly radio show in front of a live audience at New Towne Mall. On March 9th, gardening enthusiasts from around the valley gathered in the food court at New Towne Mall to ask the horticulture expert questions and listen as he did his weekly show. Everyone who attended received goodies from our participating sponsors, and a few lucky audience members walked away with additional prizes like gift cards to Stutzman's Lawn & Landscaping, free lunches from Dover Healthy Alternatives, tickets to the Kent State Performing Arts Center, T-shirts and a corn hole set courtesy of TMK Valley Propane, and the grand prize of a Stihl FSA 56 battery-powered string trimmer courtesy of your Dover and New Philadelphia ACE Hardware Stores. To see some more pictures of all the fun we had, visit our Facebook page. Thanks to everybody who attended, and thanks to Fred for 14 great years of "Plant Talk Live"!
