Amy Smith

General Manager

Amy began her radio career at age 17 as host of "Dover High Digest" on WJER. After high school, Amy became the host of WJER's 7pm-12am show while attending Kent State University where she received a degree in public relations. Over the next 20 years she would spend time working in news, traffic, sales, and she was the Continuity Director from 2001-2016. In 2017, after 20 years with WJER, Amy was promoted to General Manager.

Amy says it's because of her job with WJER that she was able to cross off the top two items on her bucket list: meeting President Bill Clinton (three times!) and riding in the Goodyear Blimp (twice!).

In her spare time, Amy enjoys following the Cavs, Indians, Browns and Buckeyes. She is admittedly obsessed with U2 and has traveled all over the US and Europe to see their concerts. She is the sound/lighting engineer for the nationally-touring U2 tribute band "ONE." Amy is passionate about dog rescue, and in addition to fostering dogs for shelters, she rescued her beloved dogs Marge and Murphy.

Amy says she owes everything to the legendary Dick Hanchette who taught her everything she knows, and a few things she has forgotten.
