Free pet preparedness items available at drive-thru event

| June 24, 2024

DOVER (WJER) (June 24, 2024) – The Tuscarawas County Health Department is observing National Pet Preparedness Month here in June with another drive-thru giveaway.

It’s happening for two hours on Tuesday from 3:30 until 5:30 pm outside the agency’s headquarters on East Iron Avenue in Dover. Spokesperson Jennifer Demuth says the first 250 vehicles to drive up will receive a bag stuffed with pet health and safety essentials.

“Free items include an LED clip-on pet collar light, pet waste bag dispenser, tick remover, emergency preparedness information, pet care coloring book for the kiddos, an emergency rescue decal so you can place it on your home and emergency personnel would know if they have to make a rescue at your home to look for your pets.”

Randomly selected bags will have an added prize inside, and participants can get a free vehicle restraint for their pet while supplies last.

“And anyone who has their dog in the vehicle with them when they come, we will have a little treat to give the dog, with their permission of course.”

The health department is also hosting a combined pet supply collection for the Tuscarawas County Dog Pound and Humane Society. Donations can be dropped off in the lobby during regular business hours through the end of June and will be accepted during Tuesday’s giveaway.
