Weekend music festival to celebrate bus crash victims

| June 28, 2024

BOLIVAR (WJER) (June 27, 2024) – There’s a charity music festival Sunday to support the Tusky Valley band and honor the victims of last year’s charter bus tragedy.

TV Band Aid is from 2 to 8 pm at the Wilkshire Event Center in Bolivar. Sarah Warfield is the lead singer of SLiCK 31 and helped organize the fundraiser that arose from a discussion in the T-County Live Facebook group.

“So a few of us kind of met up on that page, and with everything going on right then and there, we thought it would be nice to – rather than doing a fundraising event at that time – to give it a few months and have it be a celebration of those lost…through one of the things that they all had in common, which is the love of music”

Tickets are $25 in advance and $5 more at the door during the event. The lineup features over a dozen acts across three stages, including Ed Kilpatrick, Moonlyterz, Nick Bonner, and Tusky Valley Band Director Stephen Tripp.

“Wyatt Mosley, one of the students we lost in the accident, his parents are in Final Chapter, which is a band that’s gonna be kicking off the event, and I think it’s so special and then having Mr. Tripp play as well.”

Warfield says the performers are all giving their time, and the four food trucks participating will donate a percentage of their sales to the cause.

“Everyone came together and raised so many funds for the families… and so when we looked at doing this event and we spoke with the families, they thought it would be great to give back to the band itself.”
